Where: Tom McCall Waterfront Park
When: July 1st- July 4th
Head downtown for the largest 4th of July celebration in the region. Jam to rocking blues music all weekend, eat great food, and drink tasty beverages. To top it off, the event is put on by the Oregon Food Bank, so your exciting weekend benefits your local community. Make sure to stay until the end of the festival for the Independence Day fireworks show over the Willamette River.
Where: The Fields Park
When: July 1st- July 3rd
If you are a fan of beer, cider, and wine, then head to the Portland Craft Beer Festival to try out some new varieties. This weekend long festival features only locally brewed beer so you will be supporting Portland businesses. You might leave with a new favorite!
Where: Willamette River
When: July 10th
Looking to cool off from the summer sun? Join 2,500 others and float down the Willamette River during the annual Big Float. This family friendly event is open to all ages with music and other festivities happening on shore.
Where: NW 10th & Johnson
When: July 15th & 16th
There’s a reason that Oregon is known nationwide for its juicy, delicious berries. Come to the Oregon Berry Festival and taste the best berries of the season. There is a children’s arts and crafts booth, dozens of vendors, and every berry related food item you can dream of. Satisfy your sweet tooth and head on down!
Where: St John’s Cathedral Park
When: July 15th to July 17th
This free weekend jazz festival is held underneath the stunning arches of Cathedral Park. Grab a blanket and some food from the local vendors and take a seat in the grass or head to the beer garden. Either way, you will be listening to local musicians play a variety of different jazz. It’s easy to see why this event has been a part of the community for the past 37 years.
Where: Pioneer Square
When: Every Friday Night from 7/22 through 8/19
Celebrate the end of the work week by heading to Pioneer Square for a free outdoor Friday night movie. On five consecutive Friday evenings, a PG or G rated movie will be playing for the community. Each week, enter 101.9 Kink FM’s contest to win tickets to a special, extra comfy seating area, furnished by Portland IKEA. Check out their website to see which movie is playing which week and make sure to bring some popcorn.
Where: Mt Tabor Park
When: August 20th
The annual Soap Box Derby shouldn’t be missed. Our office had a blast being one of the sponsors last year and can’t wait to join in the festivities again this year. Watch contestants race their homemade soapboxes through the park and cheer on the winner. This volunteer run event is free for all and a perfect end to the summer.
