This week, we would like to highlight The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation! Bridgetown had the pleasure of working with JDRF by helping them move items being auctioned here in Portland for fundraising just last week. Founded in 1970 by parents with children with type 1 diabetes, JDRF is the world’s leading nonprofit and nongovernmental contributor of diabetes research. Since inception, JDRF has awarded more than $1.4 billion to diabetes research, including more than $101 million in FY 2009. Just in 2001 alone, they funded over $2.6 million to research being done here in Oregon. JDRF maintains an impressive efficiency ratio by dedicating 82 cents of each dollar raised to research and education about research. The foundation funds a major portion of all type 1 diabetes research worldwide, more than any other charity. Please join Bridgetown in saluting The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for all the work they continue to do.
